Travel Insurance to Malaysia from Singapore - Things to Consider before Buying

Purchasing travel insurance to Malaysia from Singapore isn't the first thing that comes to mind when we think about travelling to Malaysia - after all, it's hard to imagine something going wrong when Malaysia is so close by. However, as with all forms of travel, many things can go wrong when you least expect it - such as damage or loss of personal belongings, unexpected medical expenses incurred, or even an emergency medical evacuation. To have better peace of mind - a good travel insurance plan is always handy.

Here are some things to consider when purchasing travel insurance to Malaysia from Singapore:

  • The type of coverage you need. Make sure the policy covers any medical expenses you may incur while in Malaysia, as well as lost or stolen items that could be invaluable while abroad.

  • How long will your policy last? Determine if your coverage is valid for a single trip or multiple trips over a specific period of time. You may need to purchase additional coverage if you plan on traveling over an extended period of time.

  • Your age and health status. Some policies may require additional information about your health and age in order to provide adequate protection. Be prepared to supply this information and consider supplemental coverage if needed.

  • Pre-existing conditions/activities exclusions/waivers: This is essential for determining whether or not certain activities or pre-existing conditions are covered by the policy. Read through all documents carefully so that you know what is (and isn’t) included in the policy before purchasing it.

  • Other benefits: Many travel insurance policies offer benefits such as accidental death and dismemberment, flight cancellation/delay, 24-hour emergency assistance, etc., so make sure these are included in your policy before making a purchase.

By doing thorough research beforehand, you can ensure that your travel insurance provides the necessary protection while in Malaysia — so don't forget it.
